Labor laws affecting ag employers are thorny enough without immigration issues. But with the growing concern over illegal workers and legislation in congressional hoppers, it's critical that farmer stay abreast of labor compliance regulations.
That's why New York Farm Bureau is teaming up with Bond, Schoeneck and King, PLLC, to conduct two Labor Compliance Audit Seminars at four different sites across New York state on Nov. 16 and Nov. 17.
A "live action" seminar will be held at the Holiday Inn in Batavia on Nov. 16. "This seminar will be critical for farmers concerned about immigration, making sure I-9's are filled out correctly and how to respond to a mismatch letter," says Julie Suarez, manager of governmental relations for New York Farm Bureau.

On Nov. 17, the seminar will be repeated at the offices of Bond, Schoeneck and King at One Lincoln Center in Syracuse. It will be simulcast via videoconference at the Jefferson County Cooperative Extension office in Watertown; Saratoga County Cooperative Extension in Ballston Spa and at Suffolk County Cooperative Extension in Riverhead.
