Yanmar's new TNV engine series (above 25 horsepower) uses common-rail direct injection technology, cooled exhaust gas recirculation, a new intake throttle valve and a diesel particulate filter to meet Tier 4 clean air standards for off-highway use. Three smaller engines continue to use indirect injection technology.
The engines, ranging from 13 to 75 hp, are interchangeable with existing Yanmar engines and comply in full with EPA restrictions -- including high-altitude operations.
The company's DPF regeneration control enables the new engines to achieve extremely low lube oil dilution by fuel, and lowers overall fuel consumption. The system also allows extended DPF durability and overall longer maintenance schedules.
In addition to the clean-air redesign, the engines feature a new electronic control diagnostics service system. Yanmar's SA-D, short for SMARTASSIST-Direct, confirms real-time engine running status and adjusts systems accordingly.
